Technical Information
Before each use, check your Easybreath, especially for your child:
- Hold the snorkel in your hand and move it from left to right. The float should move freely.
- Check the presence, condition, and correct positioning of the seal.
- Ensure all valves are intact, not deformed, and properly positioned against their support.
- Inspect the overall assembly of the mask, making sure there are no defects in the skirt, frame, or lens.
- Never use the mask without the snorkel.
What should I do if my mask fogs up?
If you experience fogging around the eyes, go through the four steps above again, reposition your Easybreath mask correctly, and ensure you have the right size for your face. If the problem persists, do not use the mask and visit your nearest Decathlon store.
Snorkelling Safety
Snorkelling is a fun and accessible activity for the whole family! However, breathing through a snorkel is more demanding than regular swimming. If you feel tired, short of breath, or dizzy, remove your mask and exit the water immediately.
Do not use this product if you have cardiovascular or respiratory issues (lung infections, angina, asthma, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc.). Consult your doctor if you have any doubts.
What is the Easybreath mask?
The Decathlon Easybreath 500 is the second generation of our full-face snorkelling mask, originally invented by Decathlon.
It retains all the key features of the previous model, such as a 180° field of vision, anti-fog system, and easy fit, while improving the mask’s durability, skirt comfort, and breathing ease by reducing inspiratory effort by 20%. Additionally, it features a new innovation: the “dry-top-release”, preventing blocked breathing when waves pass over.
Which Easybreath models are available at Decathlon?
- Easybreath 500: Allows natural nose and mouth breathing, offers a wide field of vision, and features an anti-fog system thanks to its air circulation design. Available for both adults and children.
- Easybreath+ (540): Includes an acoustic valve, allowing clearer communication on the surface, without removing the mask.
- Easybreath 900: Features a flexible nose for ear equalisation, allowing dives of up to 3 metres. Go beyond the surface and explore deeper!
How does the Easybreath mask work?
Fresh air is channelled onto the lens before reaching the nose or mouth via nasal valves, reducing fogging.
Moist air and COâ‚‚ are expelled through dedicated channels around the mask, directing them out through the snorkel. Incoming and outgoing airflows remain separate, ensuring you always breathe fresh air.
Licensed by Ocean Reef Group.
How does the “dry-top” system prevent water from entering?
The dry-top technology stops water from entering the snorkel when there are small waves, immersion, or if the user tilts their head too far forward. A built-in float rises to close the snorkel opening when submerged.
When this happens, exhale forcefully upon surfacing to ensure the float lowers back into position.
Can I dive with my Easybreath 500?
The Easybreath mask holds more air than a traditional snorkelling mask.
At just 1 metre deep, you’ll start feeling pressure against your face. Since freediving requires ear equalisation and the Easybreath’s nose is inaccessible, it is not suitable for deep dives.
Why choose an Easybreath over a traditional snorkel mask?
The full-face design is ideal for users who prioritise comfortable breathing and a wider field of view.
Its innovative design makes the Easybreath perfect for surface snorkelling and marine observation.
Which size Easybreath 500 should I choose?
The Easybreath 500 comes in two sizes, covering 90% of adult face shapes:
- S/M: Suitable for children (10+ years old) and smaller adult faces.
- M/L: Designed for larger adult faces.
To find the right fit, tighten the mask on your face—it should seal fully against your chin with no gaps.
Can I wear the Easybreath 500 with a beard?
Facial hair prevents a proper seal between the mask’s skirt and your skin, which may lead to water leakage.
For the best waterproof fit, it is recommended to shave before use. Alternatively, applying a thick balm like petroleum jelly may help improve the seal.
Can I repair my Easybreath 500 if it breaks?
Yes! Extend the life of your Subea Easybreath mask!
Decathlon provides after-sales repair services at its in-store Atelier workshops. Replacement parts (straps, caps, snorkels, valves) are available both online and in-store.
- Strap: 8316952
- Valve: 8363399
- Snorkel: 8506099
- White Cap: 8520085
Can I wear glasses with my Easybreath mask?
Most prescription glasses will prevent the mask from sealing properly by distorting the silicone skirt.
This makes it difficult to use the Easybreath while wearing glasses.
What precautions should I take with my Easybreath 500?
Beware of sand! Avoid placing your Easybreath directly on the sand, as this may scratch the lens.
If sand gets on your mask or snorkel:
- Do not force the snorkel into place.
- Rinse both the snorkel and mask before assembling them.
- Sand can also block the snorkel float—rinse it thoroughly or use a small key through the back vents to dislodge it, then rinse again.
